As roasters we are a true product of this Australian industry with Clayton having begun his trade on March 18th 1974 as an “International Tea & Coffee Trainee” at Bushells Tea & Coffee Pty Ltd, 121-127 Harrington Street Sydney. As roasters we are also innovators creating unique coffees with outstanding characteristics including bean appearance, aroma, flavour and linguering presence.
Bella Italia was an idea based on our long and happy association with many Italian coffee roasters around the country and the Australian passion for most things Italian i.e. Coffee, Pasta, Olive Oil, Wine and Good Food generally. Lesley and Clayton grew up in Adelaide where the Italian influence is strong and as children we used to watch our neighbours treading the grapes and pickling the Olives. Parties were regular and the Italian wine flowed, food was in abundance and the coffee was black, thick, bitter and strong.
Bella Italia is a unique quality range of blends and origin coffees that brings together over 30 years of experience in sourcing, blending, roasting and tasting in the company of professionals with the collective knowledge of many years. Bella Italia is a dynamic range of coffee blends and roasts that often includes new blends, origin coffees of unique seasonal quality, a growing range of organic grown coffees and an even faster growing range of exclusive flavoured types. We consider it most important to satisfy the likes and needs of our customers whilst still maintaining our love for coffee.
In developing our coffees we have not only created new blends but have taken known blend structures and made some significant improvements.Such creativity has lead us to winning awards for our art of coffee blending.
Original, House, Tuscany and Special Italian are the most popular espresso types. Those that like more roast bitterness are attracted to the Seattle Espresso, French Kalosi and Blast From the Dark or if it’s a major bitterness attack required then the Hong Kong High Roast will satisfy with its highly caramelised beans.
Our single origin types include the world’s best Jamaica Blue Mountain Wollenford Estate, Kenya’s best Massai AA, Hawaiian Kona Greenwall Plantations and Yemen Ismali the world’s first cultivated coffee. And, in our flavoured types you will find a range of unequalled delights including indulgences for chocoholics such as Chocolate Orange, Swiss Chocolate, Swiss Chocolate Almond, Chocolate Macadamia and Muddslide, and dessert cravings like Crème Brulee, Butterscotch, Irish Cream and Hazelnut. All of our flavoured types are offered as Australian Coffees or Organic Grown Coffees.
